Kai Tak International Airport was considered as the most challenging airport in the world. It retired on July 6, 1998 and became a collective memory in Hong Kong. Especially the residents in Kowloon City, from 6:30 am to midnight, every two minutes would have one plane flying over their sky. People in the surrounding areas had to keep silent for a few seconds when the airplanes flying over, whatever they were talking face-to-face or over the phone. At the same time, the air current produced by the aircraft pulling the curtains and window frames swinging and shaking simultaneously. Kai Tak became part of their life, they talked and silenced at the same time, and woken up all together by the first flight in the morning. Without Kai Tak, they got lost suddenly and found that something is “missing” in their life. They felt unpleasant and anxious to wait for the “noise” and expect the curtains will swing again.
