影與剪影
“Shadow with a childish and naïve presentation is to recapture my lost childhood.”
To the best of my memory, shadow play was a kind of sole entertainment I played at home during the dark period in Hong Kong in the 60s’. Owing to the outbreak of the Cultural Revolution in mainland China, violence and crimes occurred everywhere. I was unavoidably detained at home however my warmest time with my family lastly turned to the theme of my work.
“Silhouette is a decent way to capture an individual’s profile.”
A combination of light and shadow effect illuminates my works in the context of cultural metaphors, a sense of mystery and gloominess related to the deaths and to the dead, as well as my personal associations, together with my hardship in the past. Spectators are invited to perceive the transformation of my bare profile into something extraordinary.
充滿童真味道的影與剪影,不僅叫我懷念失去的童真,也讓觀者參與我的創作旅程。
